Long Beach Water Department

3 polyethylene tanks used in a groundwater treatment system were failing and leaking aluminum sulfate and fluorosilicic acid. The hazardous materials were pumped out of these tanks and the tanks were demolished by NPDES standards. Three fiber glass tanks were installed in the system as well as new CPVC piping, valves, level transmitters, expansion joints, and pipe supports.
